The Psychology Internship Program at the Center for Behavioral Medicine adheres to APPIC notification and acceptance procedures. Candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology. APA approved programs are required. All formal course work and comprehensive examinations must be successfully completed by the start of the internship. Applicants must have completed three semesters of supervised practica. Completion of comprehensive exam by selection day is preferred.

CBM is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution. Applicants from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

Online Application: APPIC launched AAPI Online for submitting and reviewing psychology internship applications via the Internet (including cover letter, vita, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and verification of candidacy). Our internship site is using this process starting in 2009-2010. For more information on the electronic submission process, please go to http://www.appic.org/match

Below is an overview of the process:

1. Applicants can access the AAPI Online via the "applicant portal." You will use your internet browser to create an account, enter information, and submit your completed application to us.

2. Once you complete the portions of the AAPI that need to be verified by your Director of Training (e.g. total hours, dissertation progress, etc.), you will generate an electronic request to your director who will then either approve the information (via electronic signature) or ask you to make changes and/or provide additional information. (This replaces the previous "AAPI Part II".)

3. You will then request letters of recommendation by generating electronic requests to individuals of your choosing. These individuals will upload their letters directly into the AAPI Online. While you are not permitted to view the content of the letters, you can decide which letters to submit to each site.

4. You will also submit one official copy of all graduate transcripts directly to the AAPI Online service via regular mail. These are then verified, scanned into the system, and attached to your application.

5. Supplemental Materials: For our site, you will need to submit two evaluations based on a battery of tests of real clients (confidentiality of reports should adhere to APA standards). Supplemental materials can be uploaded as either PDF, word, or excel documents. You must enter sites to which you are applying to have this section available to you.

6. Once you have completed all aspects of the application including uploading of supplemental materials, choose our site to which to send your application electronically.

7. Once submitted, your application will be instantly available for our internship site to review.

Screening Process: Completed applications are evaluated on a variety of factors including "goodness of fit" with our site to identify a pool of applicants to interview. You will be notified if you are no longer under consideration. We will notify all applicants of their application status via e-mail. Please be sure to provide your correct address. We will make every attempt to notify applicants of interview status by December 15.

Interview: An on-site or telephone interview is required of applicants who have passed our initial paperwork evaluation. Although on-site interviews are preferred, we have made offers to both types of interviewees. Interviews usually extend from the middle of December through the third week of January.

Computer Match Program: Our site is registered to participate in the Computer Match Program. To be considered at our site, you will also have to be registered with the computer match company. The link to the Request for Applicant Agreement Package form is at http://www.natmatch.com/psychint. There you will find information on how to register online, deadlines, and the fee.

The application deadline for this Clinical Psychology Internship is November 15.

The Internship Program Code for the Psychology Internship Program at CBM is 139311.

The CBM Psychology Internship Program agrees to abide by APPIC policies including that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking-related information from any applicant (see policies at www.appic.org).
